Top 16 for 2016

Happy New Year!! As I look back over the year I’m always struck at how fortunate I am to work the families that I do. It’s always a task to pick my favorite images of the year. You see, as an artist on any given day I could love and hate the same image. It’s what we do to ourselves. Constantly critiquing our own work and finding faults and room for improvement. I say this, because today these are my favorite TOP 16 of 2016, but I guarantee if I were to face this task again tomorrow different images would fill this page. More than anything I’d like this post to be a gesture of gratitude to all the people who allowed me to photograph the most precious things in their lives, their children and their families. Thank You! I wish you all a healthy and happy 2017.

Bubbles!

It’s no secret I love bubbles…they bring out the child in everyone. Never fails. This sweet girl has been in front of my camera a few times before.

Hugs

What mom doesn’t love a hug from their baby?

In the picture!

I always encourage moms to get in the picture! Let’s face it…nobody really loves having their picture taken. Trust me, someday you will be glad you agreed to get in the picture. You will feel the love and your heart will be full.

My most cherished images are ones that my children and I are in together. It doesn’t seem to matter what I look like in the picture when they are with me. I see beyond the flaws and feel the love.

A sweet moment

The images I am most drawn to of young children, don’t often involve a camera ready smile or even their full attention for that matter. If this were my daughter this picture would hang proudly on my wall. In fact it does hang on the wall of her parents home…further proof that my client rock.

An heirloom

I loved everything about this sentimental session. At two years old this sweet little face is wearing dress that has been in her family for almost 90 years. I will always be drawn to these images.

Daddy, too!

Just like Mom, Dad deserves a moment to shine. They love their babies too.

In mommy’s arms

Snug as bug. There is a lot gentle coercion that goes into getting a newborn into the perfect position for a portrait, but sometimes they do it for you. This was one of those moments.

Because... Fall in New England!

While I love to shoot in warmth and brightness of spring and summer, nothing quite says New England like autumn foliage

Pure Joy

I just smile every time I look at this picture.

Wrapped in love

There is nothing quite like your first few days at home with a new baby.

Sisters

Because there is no greater bond.

Brothers

…..well except for maybe this one.

Kisses

Those cheeks will grow quickly. Kiss them while you can!

Adventure

These session was one of my favorites. A true adventure indeed. We climbed hills, wandered through pumpkin patches and ran through corn fields.

Laughter

“The most wasted of days is one without laughter.” E.E. Cummings

Peace

In the hustle bustle of life, an image like this reminds us of the love and peace present in our world. If we pause for just a moment to let it in.

2016 Bonus Image!

Ok… so this an extra, but I can’t help it. I LOVE THIS!
