I couldn't agree more with the quote above!
I think it's easy to GET caught up in trying to create the "perfect" image these days, whether it be for your clients or for your precious Instagram feed. I know that when it comes to photographing my OWN children I am guilty of this. I have less patience when photographing my own kiddos and because of this, I think I focus more on the perfect photo rather than creating a comfortable experience for them. Don't tell them I said this. ;)
MY CLIENTS ARE A DIFFERENT STORY ENTIRELY!
If I can't create an experience for my clients in which they feel comfortable and walk away feeling as though it has been a positive experience, regardless of the final images I feel as though I have failed them. The truth of the matter is if I am unable to "connect" with my clients the chances that I will produce images that they will relate to are slim to none. I think as a consumer it's important to take some time to chat with the photographer you hire first. Make sure you "click!" Ask around to see who else has worked with this person to get a better understanding of how your photographer will work with your family.
EVERYTHING CLICKED WITH THIS FAMILY!
This sweet family won the session I donate each year to the Hollis Pre-School in Hollis, New Hampshire. I had worked the little girl in the past, so I was VERY excited to be able to photograph this entire family. THERE WAS A LOT PLAYING, RUNNING, AND DANDELION CHASING! In the end it was a perfect evening of fun and portraits
